2020 - The year it changed for us all
Like many of us, 2020 has been an eventful year with COVID-19 changing the landscape and creating uncertainty for all. In August, for the first time in my career, I no longer had a place to call work. Trying to secure a new position proved to be quite challenging in the current environment, the uncertainty the pandemic has created meant many employers were holding back on recruiting roles until things stabilised.
Becoming a freelancer
While I was not working, I needed to keep exercising my brain, something that would keep me thinking and learning. I missed the hustle and bustle of helping people, coaching, spotting opportunities or gaps and doing what I do best! Mostly I missed the thrill of being under pressure, getting pushed to the limit and whilst balancing multiple tasks at once. A friend suggested I try freelancing, and after spending a few days getting automated rejection emails for vacancies I applied for several weeks back – I decided to take control and start my journey as a strategic digital marketing freelancer.
Why did I choose to freelance as a digital strategist?
I have worked across multiple sectors for businesses from enthusiastic startups to £multi-billion giants, which is a testament to my versatility.
Throughout my career, one thing that has always remained is to ensure any marketing budget regardless of size, is spent with care, and produces the best results. Stemming from my time working with smaller businesses, where a £5 ad campaign was a big step up - Despite the small investment, it was still essential I demonstrated a return.
From a skills perspective, I have tactical, and strategic experience which encompasses the entire spectrum of digital across SEO, email, PPC, UX, CRO, local marketing, local SEO services, and social media.
With broad experience, budget management skills, deep understanding of customer acquisition, strategic mindset and my skill set - I am primed to offer value to businesses that are looking to grow online. So I created DigitaLeon to help people and showcase what I can do!
